Humanitarian Visas

There are a number of humanitarian programs and protection available to help individuals in need of shelter or aid from disasters, oppression, emergency medical issues and other urgent circumstances.

 

Battered Spouse, Children & Parents – The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) allows battered spouses, children, and parents to file an immigrant visa petition under the Immigration & Nationality Act (INA).

 

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) - To request consideration for deferred action under this process, you must have been under 31 years old as of June 15, 2012. You must also be at least 15 years or older to request deferred action, unless you are currently in removal proceedings or have a final removal or voluntary departure order, and meet other eligibility requirements.

 

Refugees & Asylum - Refugee and Asylum status are forms of protection that may be granted to people who meet the definition of “refugee” under the Immigration & Nationality Act (INA), whether already in the United States, or seeking admission at a port of entry, and who meet certain other criteria.

 

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) - TPS permits certain eligible nationals of certain countries (or parts of countries), who are already in the United States to stay here for a limited period of time. 

 

Victims of Human Trafficking & Crimes - Human trafficking, sadly, still occurs frequently where traffickers entice individuals with false promises of employment and a better life. Victims of this, or certain other crimes may qualify for certain immigration benefits.
